Well it has been awhile since I posted. I have had quite a few changes in my world. I now have a new job that involves a lot of traveling, so that will be an added feature to my blog. Right now I am training in New England. This is an area of the country that I have not spent much time in so I am looking forward to exploring the area. This is my first weekend here and can’t wait to discover new things. Look out for my pictures of New England in fall scenes!!!

As I start my training for the mini marathon JP and I are going to run together in October I want to list some of my favorite running items.

The first thing I love is Nike Plus.

You put the little sensor on your shoe and it tells you your pace and distance. I used it all throughout my first half marathon and it is a must have. At some point I want to buy a garmen satellite watch but until I can afford one, Nike plus does the trick.

The next thing I love is Bondi Bands.

These bands stay in place while I run and are pretty inexpensive. Plus you can wash them when they get sweaty!

The next item I love are Insperpire towels.

These towels are soft and soak up all my sweat. I have washed it multiple times and it still is soft. I love them!

These are just a few items I love right now. I’m sure I will have more to add as I continue my training. By the way, these are all items I use and love, nothing was given to me. I have just found them on my own and wanted to share!

Well it has been awhile. Work has been crazy busy but I need to get back to posting. I am officially down 30 pounds! I still have some work to do, but I am back to my pre wedding weight which feels really good. My husband and I are going to start training for a half marathon that takes place in October. I used Hal Higdon’s half marathon schedule with a few tweaks to increase the training from 12 weeks to 16. I am excited to have a laid out schedule with should help keep me on track. The schedule is 3 days of running, 2 cross-training, and 2 rest (one of which will probably include yoga).

20 pounds down in April

My husband and I recently went to Key West and Miami. It was wonderful and a nice break from day to day life. The weather was nice and warm. It gave me my first chance for an “active” vacation. We did tons of walking, jetskiing, and kayaking. It was nice to continue a work out while out of town. I did gain 1.5 pounds, but I didn’t spend much time watching my eating besides breakfast. We bought yogurt, fruit, and low fat granola to make parfaits in our room each day as we had a fridge. This really helped my success.

30 pounds down in Key West- May 2010

Welcome back everyone to my blog. I hope to continue to post through out my half marathon training. This will be my second half and my husband’s first.

Today I had a non scale victory. I have been working very hard to get into my favorite pair of lucky jeans. I have not been able to wear these jeans in probably a year in a half. I know I was still able to wear them when I went on my honeymoon in April of 2008 but after that I gained about 20 pounds. Well I am not down 15 of those pounds and my jeans fit again! I am so excited. I have a closet full of clothes ranging from size 4 to 16 and next weekend I am hoping to clean out the closet of the size 16s forever. The first time I lost a lot of weight in 2005 I did it quick and gained it back almost as quickly. There were many factors to it like meeting my now husband, but I think I never learned the healthy habits to keep the weight off. This time the weight is coming off slower, but I am making lifestyle changes instead of just going on a diet. Plus I have more support in my efforts than I did the first time around. I truly believe that I will be successful and continue to make changes for life, not just for weight loss.

This picture is from 2008 and the last picture in the infamous lucky jeans:

One of my friends has a great blog. She has started posting more lately and it has inspired me to get back to blogging. Check her out here. January was a very good month to me. I have started the couch to 5k workout and am currently in week 5. It has really motivated me to go the the gym more consistently since it is too cold to run outside. That combined with tracking my food using the bodybugg has helped me to lose 10 pounds. I am feeling better and every little loss helps to motivate me. I am hoping to continue to share tips and tricks that are helping me with my weight loss.

It was a freezing 15 degrees here today. All I wanted to do when I got home was snuggle on my couch under my electric blanket. But despite all that I did day 5. I am not sore at all anymore and I am able to go deeper and have more endurance. I still have a way to go but I am getting stronger. Day 6 here I come!

So today was day 4 of shred. I woke up not as sore as previous days. The work out is getting easier. I am excited to continue and start doing less and less modifications. Hopefully by day 10 I will be doing full push-ups. I am still doing the mod. push-ups right now.
